There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where gambling den wagering is not allowed. Eight gambling halls are based in a generally small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect area, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; still, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are allegedly needed to pass, there are means around this, as is real of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge gambling hall, features 150 slots and sixty gaming tables. The Naga river boat is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 one armed bandits and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel complex that highlights a number of conveniences aside from the gambling den, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and 88 gaming tables.
